German Open/Masters 2017 Hi all , German Open / Masters weekend . Firstly was the Open on the Saturday . Up early and looking forward to it , with Craig and Derek playing just before me and my self being seeded 8 , I had to wait for my first game as I got a bye into the next round . Warm up was going well and then was asked to play my game on stage . Scored very well but was missing doubles, here we go again , but took the game 4-0 . Next game on the floor. My opponent was from Denmark and I knew he was a very good player . We both scored very well but my doubles were awful and I lost 4-2 , very well played and an excellent 100+ finish to win the match . Forgive me for not remembering your name . Sunday for the Masters was an even earlier rise for Craig and Derek as the tournament was gonna finish earlier . Seeded 8 again, so had to wait for my first match . Today was better as I was finishing much better and quicker . Last 64 match was against a young German lad , Daniel Zygla , I have seen this lad play before and knew I was in for a great match . I went up 2-0 with some good steady scoring , clean finishing , with a 147 out . Then Daniel came back at me with 3 sub 15 dart legs, great darts . I brought it back to 3-3 with a couple of 180s included for a nervous 16 darter . Into deciding leg , as I have the darts I needs a good start , 60 away not good . Daniel was scoring well and at 12 darts he was shooting 132 . He shot bull x bull and wired dbl 16 , so unlucky . As I was sitting on a three dart finish I needed to take it out , last dart at double 18 went inside . Daniel then came in and hit dbl 8 on his second dart . Was a great match to play in and Daniel deserved his victory and go into last 32 , well done All in all was a good weekend with the guys and had some laughs . No points on the table for me but didn't matter as around me on the table didn't gain or defend so I actually moved up a place. Thank you all for messages of support and continued support from my sponsors. Special mention to Dorothy who keeps me sane. The Belfry Open Saturday 15th and Brugge Open 16th April . We arrived Friday evening to a beautiful square and scenic town . Took a walk over on the Friday evening to take a look at this beautiful building and wasn't disappointed . What an amazing venue to play darts in and was looking forward to the events over the next two days . Up early , nice breakfast and over to the venue . Was busy so made our way to the VIP room for some practice . Boards all set up perfectly and lots of room for all players . Started off very well and was finishing well. Into the last 16 and was up against Paul Hogan . He was starting most legs with 180 but I was staying with him and was a great game . At 3-3 it was Paul's darts and we both started steady , some big scores from us both followed , Paul set up his double but I took out my finish . Fantastic game to play in and we both deserved a beer after that . James Hurrell in the last 8 and this was another great match with good finishing and high scoring . I took the match 5-3 and was feeling confident going into semi final . Jim Williams was my opponent here and playing this match on the floor we both got ready for a great match . This match was best of 5 legs , best of 3 sets and we both scored high and some good finishing . I took this match 2 -0 in sets but could have gone either way . Onto the final and against Scott Mitchell . Now they used those surround lights and were different from the practice room , no excuses as it took both of us a few darts to get used to it. Scott wasn't missing much and went 2-0 in sets . I took the third set but Scott was scoring and finishing well and took the match 3 - 1 in sets . Overall very happy with my performance and getting to another final . Lighting around the board , in my opinion , will take a while to get used to and I don't like it . A fantastic gesture on the Saturday night as the organisation invited myself and Dorothy for dinner with a few other players . Beautiful food and wine , was a great night . Belfry Open/Brugge Open - Brugge,Belgium 2017 Onto the Sunday for the Brugge Open and was feeling relaxed and very comfortable . Onto the last 32 and my opponent was the legend Mr Tony O'Shea . Taking the match 4-1 was a flattering result for me as it wasn't easy . Onto the last 16 and to meet Jim Williams again . Jim was playing fantastic darts and was finishing superb and beat me 4-1 , a well deserved victory . So overall I was very happy with my weekends work , picked up some good points and had a fantastic weekend . Dorothy enjoyed her weekend in Brugge and was great to have her by my side. Iím looking forward to next years event already, beautiful town, well organised event, fantastic venue, highly recommended, so donít miss out. Thankyou for the messages of support and of course to my sponsors BBCS, Harlequin Teamwear, and Red Dagon Darts. Ross Montgomery. Ross reaches his Highest World Ranking.
